Burial will be in the monastery cemetery. Friends may call at Saint Scholastica Convent on Sunday, July 5, from 1-6 p.m., or for a Prayer Vigil at 7 p.m. at Saint Benedict’s Monastery. Visitation continues at 9 a.m. until the funeral on Monday, July 6, at 4 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2009, at Sacred Heart Chapel, Saint Benedict’s Monastery, St. Joseph, for Firmin Escher, OSB, who died on June 8, 2009, at Saint Scholastica Convent. Burial will be in the monastery cemetery. Friends may call at Saint Scholastica Convent, St. Cloud, on Thursday, June 11, from 1-6 p.m. or for a Prayer Vigil at 7 p.m. at Saint Benedict’s Monastery. Visitation continues at 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Friday, June 12 at 11 a.m.

Local artist Aremy McCann has been creating art nearly all her life. “By the time I was seven, I had burned through a lifetime’s worth of markers,” McCann said. She’s graduated from markers to paints, but the passion from her childhood has not faded. Her current works, like painted furniture and decorated broom handles, reflect the whimsy with which she still approaches art.

An exhibit of the St. Joseph native and St. Cloud State student’s work will open Sunday, June 7, 2009, at the Whitby Gift Shop and Gallery. An opening reception for the show will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2009, from 2-4 p.m. The exhibit runs through July 12. Hours for the gallery on the campus of Saint Benedict’s Monastery are Tuesday – Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday – Sunday, 1-3:30 p.m. The gallery is closed Mondays.
