There are two primary campuses where the Sisters of Saint Benedict
call home. The Sisters’ main Motherhouse campus is at Saint
Benedict’s Monastery in St. Joseph, Minn. This is where
the Sisters begin and end their lives on earth. It has provided
stability for thousands of Sisters in a life of prayer and work
centered in community living. It is the “home” from
which many ministries have evolved to serve the needs of the
church and its people.
Sisters who are older and/or require additional care, live at
Saint Scholastica Convent in St. Cloud, Minn. In addition, several
Sisters live close to where they minister in other communities.
Saint Benedict's Monastery is located in St.
Joseph, Minn., eight miles west of St. Cloud, in Central Minn.
It is adjacent to the campus of the College of Saint Benedict
and three miles east of Saint John's Abbey and University in
Collegeville. In its rural setting with wooded areas, prairies,
wetlands, gardens and well-landscaped grounds, the Motherhouse
campus gives witness to a tradition of reverence and care for
the earth.
Saint Benedict’s Monastery is recognized on the National
Register of Historic Places as a Historic District that is significant
in American history, architecture, archeology, engineering, and
culture. To learn more, visit www.nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com.
Saint Scholastica Convent is located in St.
Cloud, Minn., near Highway 10. It is tucked behind St. Benedict’s
Senior Community where the Sisters can view the beautiful landscape
that surrounds them on the edge of the city. At Saint Scholastica
Convent, care is given to the Sisters who require an assisted-living
style and skilled care in a monastic environment that follows
a home-care style model.
